Other information MOVE ABROAD In 2009 he left his father's stable in Ireland and moved to Italy. He trained young horses in a trading stable for two years before moving to the yard of Italian jumper Lalla Novo in Cervia. He then relocated to San Remo, Italy, for a further four years. In 2015 he moved to Geneva, Switzerland, and is now based at La Tuiliere in Viry, France, stables that originally belonged to the grandparents of his wife Charlotte. "We try to play great sport, but with a commercial end goal. Almost all the horses belong to us. We bought them young and we trained them for the top level. This is our philosophy. Our business plan is simple, find very good quality horses, train them and bring them as far as possible before selling them." "When I was in Italy, I worked with [Dutch equestrian] Henk Nooren and received help from an Italian called Gianluca Bormioli, but I've never had a trainer, per se [speaking in 2018]. I watched other riders a lot, which was the best way to learn. From watching them in the warm-up ring to them flatting their horses. In the end, the sport is all about feeling. If you have feeling, you can teach yourself." (worldofshowjumping.com, 30 Jan 2018)
