He was a reserve rider for the Swedish team at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Sweden won gold in the team event, but he did not receive a medal as he did not participate. Earlier in his career he won team silver at Athens 2004 and individual silver at Beijing 2008. "It is okay [not to receive a medal as a reserve]. If you do not contribute anything, you should not get a medal. Being a reserve was almost more nerve-racking than riding. But the nerves disappear when it is our team competing. From day one here [in Tokyo] they performed with a precision that is absolutely outstanding." (SportsDeskOnline, 04 Sep 2021; worldofshowjumping.com, 30 Aug 2021; aftonbladet.se, 07 Aug 2021)
